Darlene's role in Great Start Learning Center is to work with students, teachers, parents/guardian, families and the community.
Experience
Eight years teaching elementary education. Darlene received a Bachelor of Arts in Exceptioanal Student Education at Saint Leo University. She holds certifications in Elementary Education, Daycare Director, and CPR and is currently studying for her masters in early learning.
Curriculum Choice
Our curriculum is shaped by our students based on their interests and needs; children construct their own knowledge (Piaget). Projects and themes are some methods used.
Focus
We focus on the whole child. Meeting all of children's needs (physiological, safety, love, esteem, and self-actualization) which allows them to be better able to learn (Maslow).
We believe that children learn through hands-on experience and through play.
